Acts (vol. 2)Acts commentary (vol. 2)

Presents a selection of more than 30 of the stories that appeared in Drum during the 1950s. They depict the danger, the poverty and the glamour of Sophiatown, where the New African, the tsotsi, the jazz musician, the journalist and the writer, affirmed identity and style and refused to submit to the government's determination to 'retribalize'. Peter Davidson, the author of Homicide Miami, the true crime story that inspired the film Pain and Gain, compiles the true stories of some of America's most notorious cannibal murderers. They violated one of civilized society’s most sacred taboos, and they’re anathema even in the twisted world of serial murder.

The Spirit in the Gospels and Actshttp://bakerpublishinggroup.com/books/the-spirit-in-the-gospels-and-acts/334860

In the beginning, there was Google Books.

Well, not exactly. But one can certainly argue that the project is as old asGoogle itself. In 1996, Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page weregraduate computer science students working on a research project supported bythe Stanford Digital Library Technologies Project. Their goal was to makedigital libraries work, and their big idea was as follows: in a future world inwhich vast collections of books are digitized, people would use a “web crawler”to index the books’ content and analyze the connections between them, determining any given book’s relevance and usefulness by tracking the numberand quality of citations from other books.

The crawler they wound up building was called BackRub, and it was thismodern twist on traditional citation analysis that inspired Google’s PageRankalgorithms – the core search technology that makes Google, well, Google.

Even then, Larry and Sergey envisioned people everywhere being able tosearch through all of the world’s books to find the ones they’re looking for. What they couldn’t have imagined was that one day they would launch a projectto help make it happen.

Fast forward to today:

After more than a decade of evolution, innovation and strong partnerships,Google Books has helped to make more than 40 million books discoverable, inmore than 400 languages.

And we're not done -- not until all of the books in the world can be foundby everyone, everywhere, at any time they need them. Ableton live crack mac high sierra installer.

It's the mission that Larry and Sergey set out with as they built Google, and one that Google Books would like to continue into the future -- to make theworld's information as universally accessible and useful as possible, all thewhile respecting publishers, copyright and the role of libraries across theglobe.
